![]() Regarding the Thomson Fertility Center incident of different blood type between the baby whom was produced through in-vitro fertilisation(IVF) and the parents, I feel that it is quite a shocking incident. This is because in order for the procedure to be done, a thorough check will be done first. For instant the IC number and full name will be the identifier for the patients and then two staffs will be present to witness the embryo-transfer. In addition, the couples are also allowed to watch the procedure live for reassurant purposes. Therefore, it is quite surprising that this kind of incident can happen in Singapore whereby the technology is so advance and tight measures are taken before every procedures to ensure perfection. Personally I feel that it is very depressing as this is their first newborn. They must have truthfully hope that it's theirs however it turned out to be of different blood type from them. It must have been a mental shock and dissapointment for the couple when they came to realise that the baby is not theirs as they must have had done all the necessary preparation to welcome their first newborn to this world, only to be faced with this trauma. However,as there is a feeling of attachment between the mother and the baby as they had once shared the same heartbeat for 9 months,i am sure that she will be able to slowly accept it. It was also mentioned in the news that the couple has decided to keep the baby. I hope that the couple will be able to love the baby like their own even if it will be hard for them. Every baby is special. Furthermore, everything that happened in this world have a reason behind it. My suggestion for this kind of incident to not reoccur is that there should be an even more thorough check before finalising the procedure. This is to ensure that no other couples will face this kind of incident again. Faridah Labels: Thomson Fertility Centre back to top? |
